THE HR DEPARTMENT'S IMPACT ON EMPLOYEE HAPPINESS

 Introduction

The value of your business depends in large part on the contentment of your employees and the skills of those in your HR department, regardless of whether you're a simple business owner with a small startup or a corporate executive with hundreds or thousands of employees. Of course, it would be impossible for you to keep track of every employee on your own, which is why your company has an HR department. They work hard to retain personnel, which leads to increased production, in addition to finding and hiring outstanding talent.

In order to achieve an organization's purpose, HR practices of the organizations play a crucial part in maximizing the efficiency of human resources. (Huselid, 1995). ‘

HR strategies maximize the use of human resources, facilitating the long-term achievement of company goals. (Bogdanova, Enfors and Naumovska 2008),

Happiness has to do with how people perceive and evaluate their entire lives. (Bataineh, 2019).

All that is positive and beneficial to people's "well-being" or "quality of life" as well as to society is referred to as happiness. (Veenhoven, 2012).

Workplace happiness is a team effort.

HR cannot handle it alone. The satisfaction of employees at work is influenced by business executives, managers, HR executives, and employees themselves. The following factors at work have an impact on employees' well-being:

01. Do employees and their managers get along well?

02. Do they possess enough training?

03. Are the resources they require available to them?

04. Do business executives communicate frequently?

05. Do they receive a fair wage and a variety of benefits?

Improve working conditions

Enhancing staff productivity is a key component of any successful business strategy, and one of the greatest ways to do this is to make sure that everyone is at ease while at work. Ample natural light, availability to wholesome, nourishing meals and beverages, ergonomic office furniture, and others are also important considerations. Employees frequently voice complaints about poor lighting, and for good reason: excessive or inadequate light can strain the eyes, while bright artificial lighting can quickly cause headaches or even migraines in some people. If employees don't experience headaches and back pain while working, they will be more comfortable and productive. They will feel more at ease during their time in the office, which will make them happier and more effective.

Making employees comfortable

In addition to having suitable working circumstances, employees should also feel at home and at ease in their workplaces. Even though the office will never serve as their home, they should nonetheless make it as comfortable as possible. HR departments should concentrate on designing suitable office interiors with good lighting, fresh air, and comfy seats since they are aware that the environment in which people work has a significant impact on their mood and productivity. Additionally, the department should support flexible work schedules because they will let employees arrive and exit at the times that work best for them without having to worry about being late.

Keeping everyone contented

The pursuit of maintaining everyone's happiness and contentment is another crucial HR technique that will undoubtedly increase productivity. Any company that has contented employees takes great satisfaction in that, which is one of the reasons why businesses like Google and Coca-Cola frequently post photos of the inside of their offices and list the advantages that come with working for them.

Keeping an eye on everyone

The company's owner would be unable to manage the business, properly connect with all departments, and additionally keep track of every employee. This might even be achievable for tiny businesses, but if you run a large organization, you must rely on your human resources division.  They will make every effort to guarantee that all is in order, that workers are productive, and that they are satisfied, and one excellent technique to do this is by employee appraisal.

Conducting surveys

Of course, a survey is necessary to determine what employees need, helping the HR department identify issues and provide solutions. If your business does not already have protocols in place, you can discover helpful advice on creating surveys online. No matter how simple they may seem, never overlook a crucial question, and be sure to find out if the staff are content with their jobs.

Severance benefits

Even if an employee decides to quit and find employment elsewhere, businesses still need to show care for them. All employees should receive suitable severance packages that include  career transition support. Restructuring the workforce typically has a number of negative effects, and those who stay are well aware of how their employers treat individuals who are being let go during layoffs. They will be less prone to worry about the future and more motivated to achieve corporate objectives if they see support and encouragement.

Conclusion

There are several duties and responsibilities that fall under the purview of the HR departments. Aside from hiring, maintaining team satisfaction is one of their top priorities. The department should make every effort to ensure that everyone's benefit plans are in order and that the atmosphere in which individuals work and get training is pleasant and pleasurable. They need to be knowledgeable and have a solid plan if they're going to serve as the intermediary between employees, employers, and managers.
